He Knows, He Sees, and He Cares

I want to encourage someone today with this testimony. Let me preface this by saying, I don’t know what you may be facing today, or something you’re experiencing that may be a bit difficult for you and you don’t see any way out…let me express to you that God is right there with you. He knows, He sees and He cares.  God showed me today, right smack dab in the middle of a tough situation, that He was present in it all.

You know life can come at you really hard and throw you some curve balls. I’m seeing it myself, and I’m sure I’m not alone.  I get really busy trying to take care of this and that, you know all the things a wife, mother, homemaker, church member, and things individually that I need to focus on and show up for, to where it can begin to overwhelm you.  Well, an interesting thing occurred on this week.  I had to take my boys to the dentist, and to make a long story short, 2 out of 3 needs a little dental work.  So mind you, the boys, surprisingly, are having a blast on their visit, but mom gets the news of what needs to be done.  So each of the boys was seen simultaneously, and between the dentist and the dental assistants, I kept hearing…. “Mrs. Freeman, if you could come over here so I can show you this”, “Mrs. Freeman, I need you over here please”, “Mom, come over here when you get a second”.  By the time I made it to the last child to get a report, I’m basically just trying to keep it together at this point.  So the assistant begins talking and giving the report, and while she’s speaking, I look down at her forearm and notice it is tattooed with the scripture Is. 41:10.  So I immediately stopped her in mid-sentence and asked her, “What does Isaiah 41:10 say”?  She paused, and one thing I noticed earlier, everything she had spoken to me previously came out with stumbled and tripped over words, but when she began to quote that scripture aloud…she looked me right in my eyes and those words flowed smoothly and ministered right to my heart… “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” As she was saying it out loud to me, I didn’t care where I was at that moment, my hand slipped up in the air and I began to receive every word that proceeded out of her mouth.  That was just what I needed at that very moment in time.  I opened my mouth to tell her, “You don’t know how much I needed to hear that right now”!  God knew exactly how I was feeling and knew what to bring before my eyes to get my attention.  He stopped the flow of business, to let me know, personally, that He sees and He cares.  He was right there in the midst of my feeling overwhelmed to let me know that He’s my strength, my help, and that he will uphold me with his right hand.  Ya’ll I was trying to keep the tears back, but it encouraged my heart so that God took that time to let me know… “I’m here and everything is going to be alright”.

Friends, be encouraged today knowing that God is right in the middle of your situation, that storm, and sees everything that’s taking place. You’re not alone.  Anything that may have thrown you for a loop or caught you off guard, God has it all under control.  Things you may be in need of, remember that Philippians 4:19 says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.  Take comfort in this my friends, that God knows, He sees, and He’s always there!  Be blessed today!

Wanting what He Wants

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matt. 5:6 KJV).

What does it mean to want what God wants? This says that you are going hard after the things of God: what He wants you to do in this life, what He wants you to have, where He wants you to go and how he wants you to live. This scripture came to me as I began writing this morning, and I wondered “why”? As I read it over and over again, it resonated with me that being and remaining in the state of desire for what pertains to God, and all of Who is, means we’re wanting nothing else but to be in a position that’s pure, honest and humble before Him. Look at how the amplified breaks this down…I just love it: 😄

“Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied! ”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Look at that! We’re BLESSED, FORTUNATE, HAPPY and SPIRITUALLY PROSPEROUS when we seek, or “hunger and thirst”, to be in right standing with God. Look at what else happens…we are “COMPLETELY SATISFIED” when we want what He wants! Why? Because we’re steady filling ourselves up on, feeding off of, and quenching our thirst with The Living Word, The Living Water and Bread of Life Himself! Well, let’s take it a step further. The Message version of this verse tells us that:

“You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Well now! 🙂 Sounds like living a blessed and satisfied life to me! 🙂 I don’t know about you, but this is the position I long to be in and the type of life I want to walk in on a daily basis. No matter what’s going on around me or what’s taking place in this world, this is my focus in making sure I’m steadily pursuing God and living a life that lines up with what He’s requiring of me. Yes things happen in life that try to distract me from keeping this focus, but that’s when I take my thoughts captive and get my focus geared back into position, where it belongs.

Friends, let’s want what God wants for us today! It will only activate us to a position of living a blessed, empowered and enabled life! Doesn’t mean weapons of trouble, persecution and affliction won’t try to form or come against us, but guess what…IT WON’T PROSPER! Say it with me…”IT WON’T PROSPER”, “IT WILL NOT PROSPER”, “IT AIN’T GON’ WORK”! 🙂 You gotta believe that! But, again remember, operating in this blessed life only works when you’re consistently seeking after the things of God or wanting to live the life He so desires for you. Let’s focus in on what is and is not lining up with how God says we should live, so that we can fully flow in the blessings of God, and so He can get what He wants to and through us! We can’t work for, earn or deserve what God has for us, but we can receive salvation, repent and get the sin out, and then press toward walking out a life set apart and sold out for Him. 🙂 How about it? Let’s receive and enjoy the gift of salvation and then bask in the free flowing favors of God! 🙂

Here’s The Word

So I was at my kitchen table the other day and decided to play BINGO Sight Words with my boys, Bryson and Brayden. I would call out the words on the card, and then both of them would place their chips on the word, if it was on their card. I would begin by picking up the word and would proceed to say things like, “Ya’ll ready…ok” or “the word is….”. Well apparently, my 3 year old, Brayden, was paying close attention, because once it was his turn to call out the words, he imitated what He had seen taking place. However, the difference was, once he picked up a word, he couldn’t read what was on the card. So instead, he would pull the card, look at it, lift it in the air and proceed with the loud and exciting, most bold declaration of…”HERE’s THE WORD”! 🙂 I, would then look at the word, read what it said aloud, told him where to place it, and after he put the card in it’s rightful place, he would then move on to get the next word. The hilarious part was that, each time, it was the same thing, with the same proclamation of…”HERE’s THE WORD”! He said it in such a way that I couldn’t shake it. I found myself moving around the house, then all of a sudden bursting out with…”HERE’s THE WORD”! 🙂

Well, it stayed in my spirit, and I kept thinking there is a message in this…Lord what are You saying? God then reminded me of the word He personally gave to me during my time of worship the other day. He simply said, “Yield to Me”. It settled so strongly that I needed to yield myself even more to God, and to Him alone, in every facet of my life. See, God has been making clear how I am to go and be about His business of Kingdom work, and how I am to represent Him and His standards wherever I go, in whatever arena He places me. The thing is, I must constantly keep in mind, it’s not about me, and I have to keep my entire being yielded to His purposes and what He is requiring of me. When I put myself in this position of complete surrender to Him and I remain in a posture where I’m open, ready and willing to hear and do what He says, I am then in a place where I’m cooperating with God and allowing Him to move and flow through me. He’s then able to position me where He chooses and can trust me to carry out His divine assignment.

So this became more clear in the game, with Brayden, when I took a closer look at what exactly was taking place. Every time Brayden declared, “HERE’s THE WORD”, that indicated to me, that’s where it starts, with the Word, and God Himself is The Word. Well, what happened after I told Brayden what the word said on the card? He heard and received instruction on exactly where to place the word, on the chart that was assigned to Him. Even more and most important, he ready and willingly yielded to the instruction of what to do with that word, thereby positioning him to receive another word and instruction for its assignment.

Everything becomes clearer once we start with God, The Word, and allow Him to instruct on how He wants us to go about carrying out His purposes throughout the earth. We must hear Him for the “who”, “what”, “when”, “where”, and maybe even on occasion, get the “why” He wants us in the place He has chosen. Our job is  to be ready and keep a life yielded and sold out for Him.

“Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s Personal

So, it’s a new year! Can you believe it? A new year! In that these years keep rolling by, God continues to prove His steady presence in my life, and this year, for me, has to be one where I am even more aware of Him and one in which I continuously acknowledge Him. I want God to see my appreciation and love for Him in my daily lifestyle of worship. I want to continue to wake up in the morning, acknowledging that He’s there. I want to continue, even more, when I’m able to get alone, quietly, and say “Lord, what do You want me to do”, “Lord, just be pleased”, “God, I need you”, or even go into my prayer language, knowing that He understands what I’m saying when I can’t find words in the natural. My spirit wants to commune, be in tune and agree with Him. I want to be on the same page, operating by His methods and standards. This is my desire! I have to hear Him. I gotta be in sync with what He’s doing and how He’s moving. I gotta know when He’s saying “do or don’t”, “say this or be quiet”, “move or be still”. I love that I can be personal with Him, and that He knows and understands me, emotionally. He wants to share and convey things, daily, that’s only going to help me navigate through this life, much better than I can alone.

So yes, this year, for me, must include being even more personal with God in such a manner that my walk, with Him, will demonstrate one that is fully functioning and thriving on His every word. My being should exude Jesus! My thoughts should meditate on things that bring life and my conversation should utter words that cause this life to be one that is prosperous, in every way. These days must consist of going further into the new year with The One Who wants to personally walk with me and show me more of Who He is and who I am.

Alright God, You reign as Lord over my life. Lead me, guide me. Let’s continue to do life in a way which I purpose to keep personal with You.

Blessings & Happy New Year

Don’t force it…lean back

God uniquely showed me something the other day. He showed me how my life is a living testimony and will speak and show evidence of his power, love and glory. My life, lived out, expressed and demonstrated, before men, will draw them towards the saving grace of God. The thing is, I have to allow God to show forth freely and deal with the hearts of men, how He wants to do it. I just have to be willing to let God direct me and be ready to flow with Him. He knows exactly how to speak through me so that my life will be a mirror that reflects His image.

I realized how, even though we get so excited about moving forward in the things of God and bringing others into the knowledge of Him, we must remember to keep seeking God for His lead and His way of approaching various situations. Every situation or person is not the same, and we have to be sensitive, especially when it comes to dealing with winning souls for Christ. Just because we may have become familiar and comfortable in a particular way of operating, doesn’t mean that particular approach is going to work the same way with the next person, and we must take extra precaution that we aren’t forcing a thing. God is so loving that He doesn’t force anything on us. He lays out the one and only consistent saving grace message before us, but His method or way of delivering it may be different and unique, to His making. He knows each individual personality so well and knows exactly what each person is feeling, much better than the individual himself, and therefore knows how to specifically present The Message to where the person will be receptive to what’s being said and will understand the heart behind it.

So, God just dropped this phrase in my spirit the other day, while engaging in an opportunity to let His glory show, through my testimony of living day to day life, which said simply, “Don’t force it…lean back”. 🙂 In other words, don’t go about it hard hitting to where you run people off, but just speak naturally, from the heart, and My words and presence will come alive and speak LIFE into the individual and meet them right where they are, in the particular stage or season of their life. I kept thinking, “God, I see You”! 🙂 I sensed His presence and how His approach was very different and much better to the situation at hand. Let me tell you, can’t nobody do it better than God!! Lol! He is just AMAZING, and you’ll find He will work wonders when you allow Him to move by His Spirit. He’s just God like that!  🙂

I guess I will take this opportunity to reinforce the nice little hunch God gave to me, when it comes to moving out in acquiring souls or reaching towards the things of God, and please allow me do it with this scripture that says:

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God” (Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭AMP‬‬).

Or, again, in the words of the God hunch given to me…”Don’t force it…lean back”. 🙂

Got Purpose?

Do you know that you have something very meaningful to carry out in this earth?  It’s something that you and you alone can do.  You are here by divine assignment.  God has instilled unique gifts and abilities on the inside of you, and every day you should purpose to go about expressing and living out what He has put on the inside.  Someone needs what you have.  You’re not fully living, until you’re able to walk out what you have been put on this earth to do.  Even if you’re not quite sure and aware of what it is in which you are to function, it doesn’t mean that purpose doesn’t reside on the inside of you.  It’s just lying dormant, waiting to be awakened.  Yes, my friend, you have much to give and offer to the world around you.

Every single day is a day of discovery and unveiling.  When we’re going about life and interacting with people and things, we must ask God to make our purpose clear and continue to unfold what and how He desires for us to walk in it.  We have to keep first things first, and the most important of those firsts is found in Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you”.  All this is saying, is to first remember to pray and seek out God’s way of doing or handling things.  We never want to get our priorities mixed up, because He is the main one orchestrating all of this.  Notice that once we first seek Him and how He wants us to go about living our lives, then, everything else is added or becomes clearer into full manifestation.  In seeking Him, God will reveal, even more, the different gifts He has bestowed upon us and show us how He wants us to use them in helping others.  Yes, our gifts are not for us, but for others, and you’re never more full of life and purpose than when you’re using what you have to serve those, in your sphere of the world.

Once we know what we are called to do on this earth, and we get to the point where we’re fully operating in it, on a daily basis, we begin to feel that life has meaning.  We now have something to live for.  Then, when we are actively and effectively using our gifts, scripture tells us that, “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16).  However, I like the Message version which says, “A gift gets attention; it buys the attention of eminent people”.  See, when you recognize the importance of discovering your gifts, and begin using them to fulfill your purpose consistently and with passion, God will allow it where prominent individuals are strategically placed near you and they will notice that you have something significant in which to contribute. It really is amazing how God works.  He is responsible for uniquely designing you, instilling gifts and callings that are accompanied by your tailor made personality, and ultimately positioning you in the right place, before the right people,  so you can display and fulfill your purpose in a manner that will bless others and be pleasing to Him.

I want to encourage you today in knowing that you have been gifted to give.  God has put so much treasure within you, and your job is to ask Him to help in discovering all that lies within you and how you can get about flowing in those gifts.  These gifts will, in turn, help encourage, build and strengthen the lives of others. It’s in you! Go ahead and tap into it.  People are waiting!

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”(James 1:17 KJV).

What’s in your heart?

My family and I went to a Mexican restaurant the other day, and an interesting thing happened, which grabbed my attention.  We had 2 servers, the main waitress, and then the guy that brought out the chips and salsa.  Well, funny thing is, our waitress was not very thorough in her service, or she half- heartedly did her job, whereas the other server seemed like he was doing more of her job, regardless of whether or not it was in his job description.

In the first instance, upon arrival, my husband noticed that our table had not been fully cleaned, so, guess who arrived, just in time…the server with the chips.  For now, we’ll refer to him as Mike.  So my husband, even though bothered, politely asked Mike if he would mind having someone take care of the issue.  So, before we knew it, Mike was back with a towel, cleaning, and mind you, our waitress, whom we’ll call Misty, had previously told us she would be back to clean the table, but there was no follow through.  Mike quietly, and without a fuss, made sure the table was in proper position for eating.  I expressed a verbal “thank you” to Mike for handling that for us.

In the second instance, Misty, noticed we had three little boys with us, and brought three kid menus to the table, therefore, the kids could color and would be fully occupied.  However, when we began to open the menus for the boys, we noticed there were pages to color, but no crayons.  So again, who happened to pass by just in time…good ole Mike! 🙂 So this time, I nicely asked Mike, “Do you mind bringing us some crayons please”?  He quietly agreed, left to take someone else their chips, and then came back by our table and my husband heard him say, “I’ll get your server for you”.  So at this point, I’m expecting Misty to return with crayons at any moment, but each time she came, we got Misty, but no crayons. 😦  I asked my husband wasn’t Mike supposed to get the crayons, but my husband informed me, “He said he would get our server”.  So the next time Misty came to the table, I asked her, “Do you have any crayons for the kids”? She replied, “If the lady didn’t give you any when you came in, then there probably weren’t any left”.  I clearly noticed there was no initiative on her part to check on her own, or make sure there weren’t any more crayons, and I have to admit I was slightly annoyed by that response.  So, at this point, the boys are getting a little restless, then as soon as I look up, who was arriving, in the nick of time, with three packages of crayons in their hands….you guessed it…good ole Mike! 🙂  This time, Mike received hearty appreciation and thanks because he came just before meltdowns happened, and he took it upon himself to go the extra mile! Right when we thought he had either forgotten or we were expecting Misty, we were thankfully surprised by Mike’s return.

Don’t we all appreciate when we feel a waiter has shown great service and has gone further than they had to, especially when something may not have even been in their particular job description?  Now, why did Mike follow through with his actions or even bother going the extra mile to take care of what we, the customers, needed?  I would say, Mike had a servant’s heart and attitude.  Whereas Misty, held the main position of being our server, her heart was not into it, and we got responses that were given in assumption and there was no “extra” anything on her part. What was in Mike’s heart, showed in his actions, and who do you think was viewed as the better server in our eyes…you already know…good ole Mike! 🙂  What did Jesus say?  “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant” (Matthew 23:11 KJV).  This was definitely the truth in this case.  Mike was the greatest among the two, and as far as we know it, will be regarded and remembered for his diligence in serving.

May I ask, “what’s in your heart”? We all need to work on having a servant’s heart, just as Jesus served those in whom He came in contact with, and we all know that Jesus was most definitely The Greater One! God looks at the heart and He, in return, honors those who display that attitude of faithfulness and diligence.  No one can reward us better than God, and we should always remember that, even if we don’t get the proper recognition or appreciation, we should take it to God in prayer, for He is always watching.  Matthew 6:6 puts it like this, “But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open” (Matthew 6:6 AMP). That right there is very promising, and it lets us know that God is smiling on our humble attitude and acts of service, and He will do His part in taking care of His children.  Oh, and if that isn’t enough, Romans 8:17 further explains, “And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory” (AMP).  Whew! That is reward enough, right? 🙂

Let’s remember today that when we are in position to be of service, don’t go about it with an attitude that is very, well how shall we put it…. “misty” :), but instead let’s show the heart that Mike displayed, and most of all, that Jesus instructs us to have.  When we take care of God’s business, He, for sure, will take care of ours!  Be encouraged my friends!
